What You Will Contribute:


Set up, assist and/ or operate conventional, special-purpose, computer and numerical control CNC machines to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts by applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, and layout techniques. The CNC Machinist will also be responsible for the following main accountabilities:

  • Work from detailed instructions, blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Sample part to determine dimensions and tolerance of finished work piece.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
  • Adjusts machine controls, offsets, fixtures and stops as required.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.

Qualifications:
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of Lathe experience, ability to modify/optimize CNC programs

Physical Requirements:

Depending on assigned department must be able to meet the following physical requirements.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 40 pounds (Dept. 54432)
