SUMMARY
Sells and promotes the Company's products and services to existing and prospective customers by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:
- Actively seeks out and develops new customers.
- Provides consistent interaction with existing customers.
- Manages sales territory coverage to ensure level of customer contact required to support the business plan.
- Maintains and builds account relationships.
- Ensures company products, services, rates, pertinent policies and operational changes are communicated to customers on a timely basis.
- Assists in obtaining credit information and performing collection activities as required.
- Obtains and communicates information about competitive services, products and pricing to Sales Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
- Represents the Company at industry trade shows and conferences.
- Maintains all information about customers, including all contact information and call reports, accurately and timely in the Sales Data Base program (CRM).
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/MEASUREMENTS;
- Must attain established work standards of quantity and quality on a consistent basis by process or function.
- Must meet or exceed work attendance standards as established in the Company's Employee Manual.
- Consistently follows Company policies and procedures (including Governmental and safety), and departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Achieves assigned sales targets quarterly.
- Account activity entered daily in the Sales Data Base program.
- Ensures that all reports are accurate and submitted on a timely basis.
- Must acquire at least two new accounts per month that result in repetitive business.
- Develops and gives formal business presentations to all identified top accounts at least once per year.
- Prepares weekly sales plan and sends weekly sales plan to sales manager.
Assures that all assigned customer accounts receive frequency of visits according to account classification.
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:Bachelor's degree in business or Marketing preferred. Experience in the transportation / logistics industry is necessary.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common factions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:A minimum of one-year related experience and/or five years minimum experience in a related field with a proven track record.
SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
- The physical demands of this job are representative of those described above with an ability to react quickly to decisions and coordination of multiple flight loads.
- Must have flexibility to work all shifts and schedules as demanded by the department needs.
This position does not require much lifting as the norm but one must be able to occasionally lift approximately 30 lbs.
TRAVELAbility to travel up to 33% of the time.
