Blue Cross of Idaho's External Reporting team is looking for an Accountant III, with an emphasis on tax experience. This position is responsible for preparing various tax filings (state and federal), preparing quarterly estimated payment files, assisting in income tax provision preparation, and reading and applying tax codes and regulations. The position is also responsible for the accounting and reporting duties associated with non-tax areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently with limited direct supervision and to communicate clearly and concisely.

To be considered for this opportunity, you have:

  • Experience: 5 years of Accounting/Finance experience, to include experience within tax accounting
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent work experience (two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)
  • Licenses/Certifications: CPA

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills

In this role, we will ask you to:
  • Prepare and review various tax filings (1120-PC, Form 720, 5500s, Premium Tax, 990-PF)
  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Prepare income tax provisions
  • Read and understand/apply income tax code sections, regulations, and/or other rules
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, statutory reports, and other reports, as needed
  • Prepare and record tax and other monthly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations and analyze variances from prior periods
  • Prepare tax and other disclosures for financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules for internal and external audit requests
  • Perform other duties as requested
