Job Description

Overview

Interstate Batteries, a nationally recognized "Best Place to Work" has an Supervisor - Accounts Payable opportunity open in Shared Services, reports to Senior Manager Shared Services or Director of Shared Services.

The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for leading an Accounts Payable team for the Shared Services operations. This is an accounting support position in a fast paced, high volume, centralized accounting operations environment providing services to our business units throughout North America.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage 6 Accounts Payable Associates
  • Utilize resources (staffing and technology) on a daily basis to ensure metrics are met consistently
  • Build solid relationships across all business units with internal and external business partners while offering unsurpassed customer service
  • Oversee payment processing and resolve payment issues by communicating with stakeholders
  • Leads by example including, but not limited to, processing day-to-day invoices alongside the team
  • Ability to recognize and communicate opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements
  • Oversee travel and entertainment processes along with corporate credit card programs
  • Back-up as needed to set up and maintain vendor information in the accounting software in preparation for payment, which includes receiving a completed W9 form from each vendor
  • Manage annual IRS 1099 and escheat processing
  • Ensure all escalated inquiries and issues are responded to and resolved within a timely manner
  • Responsible for coaching, training, and mentoring of new and existing staff on processes and future career aspirations
  • Manage team of Accounts Payable Specialist including, but not limited to candidate selection, performance management, and conflict resolution
  • Prepare and maintain daily Accounts Payable reports and metrics
  • Develop staff to meet department requirements
  • Assist the AP manager with projects as needed
  • Support other accounting duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree, 5+ years' operational experience in Accounts Payable
  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience
  • Experience processing AR within an SAP environment
  • Basic knowledge accounting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to lead and motivate in an operational environment where metrics are measured
  • Understands day-to-day management and operations with a "team first" mentality
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and a team player
  • Able to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple assignments
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with respect to reporting and processing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at a proficient level
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Time management and time critical prioritization skills
  • High level of integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Possess initiative and positive attitude, team player, desire and ability to learn and grow
  • Professional communication skills (phone, interpersonal, w ritten, verbal, etc.
