Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

The Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach various courses in its Departments of the Administration of Justice and Political Science. Specifically, the Department of the Administration of Justice seeks applicants who can teach various courses in criminal justice and criminology. The Department of Political Science seeks applicants, who can teach courses in its undergraduate Political Science Program (including American Government and Texas Government), undergraduate Public Affairs Program, undergraduate Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program, and graduate MPA and eMPA Programs.
Applicants, who are desirous of teaching undergraduate courses must have a minimum of 18 credit hours in the specific discipline or closely related discipline with relevant practical experience. Similarly, applicants for teaching graduate level courses must have a terminal degree in the specific discipline or closely related discipline with relevant practical experience, and be eligible to apply for temporary graduate faculty status.

Essential Duties Summary:

Teaching classes in BJ-ML School of Public Affairs.

Hiring Range:

Commensurate with experience.

Education:

M.A., ABD, Ph.D., or 18 graduate credit hours in the specific discipline or closely related discipline with relevant practical experience.

Required Licensing/Certification:

N/A

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Must be able to work with a diverse student and faculty population.

Work Experience:

A minimum of one-year experience as an adjunct in a community college, a four-year college of university.

Working/Environmental Conditions:

Prolonged standing and/or walking.
Handling light weight objects.
Using or carrying equipment.
