Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Gathers and prepares library collections for off-site storage.
- Updates catalog records, maintain production quotas, ensure procedures are followed, and resolve or refer problems.
- Provides supervision and direction to temporary employees.
- Participates in unit planning and meetings.
General Responsibilities
- Handles and monitors library materials, including reshelving, processing new material, restocking, and ensuring that all materials can be located quickly and easily. Evaluates condition of library materials and may perform repair and preservation of library materials, as needed.
- Assists faculty, students, and other patrons by answering phones and handling library-related issues, escalating complex issues to supervisor.
- Monitors library systems. Creates and updates basic records, maintains automated records, reviewing for completeness and accuracy.
- May assist with cataloging new items, performing audits of outstanding items, and/or interlibrary loan materials processing.
- May oversee library department desk and provide training and direction for students employees working the front desk.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Prior related experience
- Experience with updating library catalog records
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Preferred- Valid driver¿s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire

Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
The person in this position will need to be able to move a book cart full of books or move totes of books.
Additional Information$33,500 - $35.500 annually based on experience
Work LocationHerman B Wells Library
Bloomington, Indiana
Occasionally work at or pick up materials from a campus library branch.
