JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Responsibilities

  • developing new products and improving existing products within established guidelines.
  • researching consumer trends and incorporating into new product ideas.
  • creating production procedures for new products, including creating production recipes and process guidelines.
  • creating and maintaining recipes in ERP system.
  • creating and maintaining quality assurance specifications for products.
  • troubleshooting product and processes as it relates to recipes.
  • designing and conducting experiments.
  • evaluating products.
  • verifying ingredient specifications (yields, quality characteristics, labeling, etc.).
  • verifying product recipes and processes.
  • conducting ingredient and product testing.
  • performing comparison tests against product competition.
  • maintaining R&D lab and storage areas, ensuring that equipment is clean and organized.
  • maintaining R&D databases.
  • assisting in training new associates.
  • conducting new product cuttings and samplings.
  • making presentations to associates in different levels of the company, including hourly associates and upper management.
  • assisting in other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • must be at least 18 years old.
  • high school or GED equivalency (Bachelor's Degree in Food Science preferred, or related field or related work experience).
  • minimum 2 years bakery experience, with a focus on cookies, cakes, meringues, pies, and pastries.
  • must be creative and innovative.
  • must have knowledge of ingredient functionality.
  • must have the ability to design experiments.
  • must have a good understanding of manufacturing operations.
  • must be willing to assist other team members in other areas.
  • must be able to document product formulations and procedures accurately.
  • must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • must demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
  • must demonstrate safe working habits.
  • must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • must have good human relations skills (the ability to work well with others and be a team player).
  • must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • must possess basic math skills.
  • must be able to communicate effectively.
  • must show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work.

Salary: $60,000.00 to $70,000.00
