Department Summary:

Founded in 1985, the Hospitality, Event, and Tourism Management Program (HETM) (htps://cmht.unt.edu/hospitality-and-tourism-management) at UNT is one of the largest and best known hospitality and tourism programs in the U.S. The mission of the Hospitality, Event, and Tourism Management program is to educate the next generation of hospitality and tourism leaders who strive for excellence and embrace our diversity in a caring, innovative, and empowering community. The program offers a B.S. in Hospitality Management, a B.S. in Event Design and Experience Management, a M.S. in Hospitality Management, a M.S. in International Sustainable Tourism, a M.S. in Hospitality Data Analytics, and two 12-hour online Graduate Certificates in Hospitality Management, and in Event and Tourism Management. The M.S. in Hospitality Management is offered as both resident and 100% online program. Additionally, HETM now offers the B.S. in Hospitality Management and B.S. in Event Design and Experience Management at the new Frisco campus that opened in Spring 2023. Additionally, we offer a Ph.D. concentration through the College of Information Science. The Hospitality Management program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration.

Position Summary:

The Department of Hospitality, Event, and Tourism Management at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, TX invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant (Tenure Track), Associate, or Full Professor in Hospitality Management. The successful candidate will develop and teach various courses in Denton and/or Frisco, Texas at the undergraduate and graduate levels particularly in the fields of data analytics, event management, accounting and/or finance. The incumbent will participate in university, college, and department committees; grow and maintain liaisons with appropriate professional groups and industry partners; work closely with the Chair and HETM faculty members to grow bachelor's and master's enrollment; conduct research in aligned fields, actively publish in academic journals, and seek grant opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. in Hospitality Management/Hospitality Administration/Tourism; or, consideration will be given to closely aligned doctoral degree with evidence of graduate coursework in the hospitality field.
  • ABD with a completion date prior to August 15, 2024 will be considered.
  • Excellent teaching skills.
  • A minimum of one academic conference presentation or academic journal publication.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in the hospitality industry particularly in hotels and/or the event industry. A team player who demonstrates leadership, integrity, and collegiality
