Description
The Nebraska Department of Justice / Nebraska Attorney General's Office is currently seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Attorney General ("AAG") in the Office's Civil Litigation Bureau.

Salary commensurate with comparable state agency positions and candidate experience. Full-time state benefits available. The Assistant Attorney General will work from the Nebraska Department of Justice's office located at 1221 N Street in Lincoln.

Examples of Work
The AAG will appear on behalf of and in defense of the State in all state and federal district courts with potential for appellate practice. The position allows for experience in a variety of practice areas including employment, contracts, section 1983 defense, APA claims and constitutional questions.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an ABA accredited law school and a license to practice law in Nebraska, or clear ability to be licensed in Nebraska by motion; Minimum at least one year of experience in a private law firm or government agency or at least one year as a judicial clerk. Excellent legal writing skills and demonstrated work ethic.

PREFERRED: Three or more years of civil litigation, appellate advocacy or criminal prosecution experience. Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the relevant position. Judicial clerkship experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent legal writing skill is required. Prior experience in motions practice, depositions, and appearance before state or federal tribunals highly preferred.
