What we need:

Mohawk is looking for an Assistant Plant Controller to bring more financial guidance and solutions to plant operations. This role is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day financial operations of Mohawk's plants and ensures financial activities are in line with divisional goals and objectives. The Assistant Plant Controller will also ensure conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and compliance with company and governmental regulations.

What you'll do:

• Help with managing the plant's budgeting, forecasting, costing, strategic planning, provide objective guidance, and offer constructive feedback
• Perform all aspects of general accounting and assist with audits, reconciliations and analysis of capital projects
• Consult with plant management team in all functional areas of the plant to gather information concerning production, inventories, efficiencies, plant payroll, and any other focal areas
• Serve as a member of the plant management team to maintain the integrity of the plant's financial statements and support plant management on business decisions
• Prepare reporting based on financial data, forecasting, & production, in order to facilitate agile, data driven decision making
• Perform month end closing duties including: preparing journal entries, reviewing financial accounts and performing account reconciliations

What you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred)
• Beginning course work towards CPA, CMA or other comparable certification (preferred)
• In-depth understanding of:
  • GAAP, financial accounting principles and practices, specifically as they apply to costing, capital expenditure, budgeting and internal reporting
  • Finance control, processes, and systems
  • Cost estimation and control, and budget management

• Communicating effectively with a wide range of individuals in written, oral and interpersonal form, effectively exercising tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting or negotiating with internal and external customers
• Collecting and analyzing statistical and financial data with a proven ability to think through the intricacies of a given situation.
• Presenting and explaining business and financial information in a way that establishes rapport, influences others, and gains understanding
• Accepting responsibility, challenging established practices and drawing relevant conclusions, including the willingness to take calculated risk, to stimulate, market and sell new ideas within the division
• Acting as a managerial advisor on professional and technical issues with a view towards reaching strategic decisions
