Close Date:

Description:

The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of behavioral neuroscience and an early track record of research applying high-field and ultra-high field (e.g. 7 Tesla) MRI imaging methodology to the study of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, depression or other disorders to which advanced, ultra-high field neuroimaging can be applied. Applicants must have an Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include lectures in the Brain and Behavior course for first-year medical students, in the psychopathology courses for psychiatric residents, and in seminars for neuroscience graduate students, R25 and T32 trainees in both psychiatry and radiology.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing the candidate's own research program and expanding and directing an emerging program in advanced high-field neuroimaging in the Department of Psychiatry (https://www.med.upenn.edu/psychiatry/). Experience in developing and running clinical, translational, and multi-site studies in high-field MRI applied to the study of psychiatry is required, including a record of publication and extramural funding demonstrating the candidate's ability to lead an independent research program. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty in other Penn departments, especially the Department of Radiology (https://www.pennmedicine.org/departments-and-centers/department-of-radiology), where the core faculty and infrastructure of the University's existing high and ultra-high field MRI programs are located.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
