Job Description:

The mission of the Asahi Kasei America, Inc. (AKA) is to render variety of services and support to improve performances and expand business presence of Asahi Kasei group companies through rendering such services as market surveys, information collection, various group wide management, including certain aspects of administrative operations, e.g., accounting, finance, tax, insurance, HR and etc. In addition, the Company support s the group companies for new business entry in North America.

This position requires the execution of accounting and financial work in accordance with company rules, US generally accepted accounting principles, tax, and other laws and regulations. With respect to the Company and three investment companies, the position holder undertakes accounting and financial work together with the accounting team . The work includes assisting in creation of corporate guidelines and manuals under the supervision of the treasurer or accounting manager, maintenance of accounting systems, work improvement proposals, and render assistance in such projects.

Main jobs
(1) Financial accounting
1. Daily and monthly jobs
• Tabulation of received checks and provision of these to the treasurer
• Input of all journal entries and payment voucher contents into the accounting system
• Management of Concur System (Expense report review / Data input to Navision accounting system / Create reimbursement report / User support / Communication with representative of Concur, etc.)
• Monthly Closing (Creation of bank reconciliation schedules / AR and AP aging check/ Confirmation of Sales with shipping documents, etc.)

2. Quarterly and yearly settling of accounts
• Adjusting journal entries
• Preparing and sending of invoices for service fees and advance payments for Asahi Kasei's US group companies
• Creation of checklist of Balance sheet accounts
• Assisting in financial audit s by external auditors (answering questions, creation and submission of materials, etc.)

(2)Treasury activities
•Preparing remittances and checks under the guidance by the treasurer or accounting manager
•Cash management (Monitor cash balances of each bank, etc.)

(3)Tax accounting
•Submission of information required for tax filings, e.g. sales/use tax, business tax, Form 1099/1042, to the to the accounting manager

(4)Other
•Maintenance of accounting systems
•Assisting in various projects, e.g. changing audit firm, internal audit, etc.

Qualification and skills
•Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics or Business Administration (Accounting focus is preferable)
•Language: English (Business level) necessary. Japanese (Conversation level or level or reading skill) is plus
•Experience: Minimum 2 years in Accounting fields experience, or Bachelor's degree in accountancy
•Knowledge of Basic US GAAP
•High Administrative/bookkeeping skills
•Skilled Task organizer across departments/sections
•Computers: MS Office (well-experienced user of Excel is required), Concur expense system , ERP experiences are preferable
•Self-starter
•Excellent communication skills
