Associate Director, Learning & Development

This is what you will do:

As the Associate Director for Learning & Development at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, you will play a pivotal role in implementing impactful L&D programs and training within the Research and Development (R&D) function. You will work in a highly collaborative manner to identify learning needs, develop learning goals and outcomes, and create solutions to meet learning needs. Additionally, you will promote a culture of continuous learning, contribute to program design, and provide instructional design and facilitation of learning programs as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with functions to drive adoption of new capabilities & skills within the teams.
  • Identify learning needs, develop learning goals & outcomes, and create solutions to meet the learning needs across all R&D functions.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning by creating opportunities to practice new skills and reinforce newly learned capabilities.
  • Develop assessment mechanisms to understand skill level prior to and after participants engage in learning journeys and provide timely and metric-driven updates on learning programs.
  • Lead program design, learning requirements, logistics, delivery, and success measures when partnering with external vendors.
  • Drive education and implementation of new ways of working based on business needs in alignment with broader organizational objectives
  • Consult on instructional design and facilitation of learning programs.
  • Apply e-learning concepts to support the creation of web-based training tools as needed.
  • Be knowledgeable in the utilization of tools supporting learning and development.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree (preferred) in adult learning, instructional design, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum 5 -7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
  • Ability to strategically drive long-range plans that are aligned with broader organizational objectives.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, and project initiatives in a global environment.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards related to learning theory.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in adult learning principles, learning strategy, curriculum design, learning-solution design, evaluation, and analysis for a rapidly changing corporate environment.
  • Experience with instructional design models.

Education
  • MA/MS 5-7 years, BA/BS 7-10 years
