Job Description

Responsible for directing and providing scientific and technical leadership for overall research and development activities in support of customer driven product development projects. Serving as the principal customer facing contact, coordinating all communications and project deliverables with accountability for achieving agreed upon project and revenue milestones. Implement lab improvement including writing SOP's for new instrument platforms. Evaluate and harmonize approaches between BPT sites. Ensuring quality data with accuracy, clarity and adherence to cGMP regulations and/or support cGLP studies.

Qualifications

  • Lead development, qualification and validation of analytical test methods for drug product, intermediates, and excipients for clients.
  • Accountable as the final reviewer for scientific rigor, conclusions and quality of reports sent to customers.
  • Lead team, schedule, and train employees.
  • Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations.
  • Foster morale and teamwork.
  • Promote the implementation of new technologies or approaches.
  • Performs activities of complexity involving others. Understands personal and team's role in job performance metrics.
  • Recognizes unmet needs within department. Strategy is focused on personal and team time management and efficiency.
  • Direct contact with customer, technical personnel to effectively coordinate laboratory studies.
  • Focus is on meeting needs of Sponsors, in the context of outputs to the next stage of workflow, and customer expectations.
  • Understands extra effort sometimes required to meet group deadlines. Commitment to occasional overtime as workload requires.
  • Be a technical resource to resolve internal problems.
  • Interfacing with FDA and/or other regulatory agencies
  • Writing SOP's to bring on-board new instrumentation and equipment
  • Must Haves:
    • Prior management experience and leading a team of up to 10 people
Education Requirements:
  • A Ph. D. in chemistry/biochemisty and at least 5 years industry experience running analytical biochemistry methods, or
  • An MS in chemistry/biochemisty and at least 10 years industry experience running analytical biochemistry methods, or
  • An BS in chemistry/biochemisty and at least 15 years industry experience running analytical biochemistry methods.

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of San Diego, CA are encouraged to apply.

Position Salary Range:

Associate Director- $150,000- $170,000 K
