Position Summary

This position will be responsible for managing the valuation of portfolio assets within Carlyle Global Credit's Liquid Credit and Structured Solutions business, comprised of 35+bn of AUM. Asset coverage includes bank loans, CLO debt and equity investments, CBO, ABS and other structured finance securities. The individual will work with teams across the organization, including the Deal Team, Finance, and Technology in assisting to carry out the valuation process for the assigned funds. This will provide the candidate with a broad range of exposure to different aspects of the business, with the core focus on valuation.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Management of the valuation process for Liquid Credit and Structured Solutions including deliverable tracking, presentation reviews, valuation model reviews, and completion of ad-hoc deliverables
  • Coordination of the valuation review with the third-party service providers
  • Guide the Deal Team on the completion of valuation models in line with Carlyle's valuation policy as well as applicable accounting/industry guidance
  • Assist the Deal Team with compiling documentation to support actual financial and company comparable assumptions used in the valuation models
  • Assess underlying assumptions used to develop the income, market and other relevant valuation approaches
  • Assist with maintaining and updating existing valuation models and developing new valuation models
  • Work closely with deal teams to solve for complex valuation situations, escalating as required
  • Drive enhancements and improvements to the valuation and reporting processes, procedures, and use of technology
  • Prepare and update quarterly fund and investment valuation analytics and reports
  • Identification of credit specific metrics to include in reporting
  • Manage and assist in the annual audit as well as interim reviews with the auditors


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance Economics, or Accounting required
  • CFA or progress towards CFA is a plus
  • 8+ years of experience in performing business valuations, valuations of illiquid and complex securities, and/or structuring, trading, or whole loan modelling
  • Advanced knowledge valuation methodologies and financial models for RMBS, CMBS, CLO, ABS, and other structured finance securities
  • Experience with third party systems such as Bloomberg and Intex
  • Proficiency in designing financial models for discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction, and option pricing analyses
  • Ability to develop valuation approaches for various forms of securities and unique instruments including equity and debt securities, loans, and structured products
  • Self-starter with a strong willingness to learn
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of individuals and personalities
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
  • Strong analytical and qualitative skills
  • Able to work independently and proactively manage responsibilities to completion
