How you can make a bigger difference:

The Behavioral Health Consultant will provide early childhood mental health consultation and support to EarlyLearn programs and staff. The consultant will also assist with caretaker screenings, make referrals, as needed, and conduct intake assessments in the Bronx Early Childhood Treatment Center Clinic.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain positive working partnerships with staff and teachers in early child care setting.
  • Assess and develop consultation plans with child care sites.
  • Provide consultation, provide referrals and conduct trainings for child care staff on early childhood development, trauma, mental health and wellness
  • Consult with parents as needed and refer children who need intervention beyond on-site consultation to mental health clinics with staff trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy, i.e. Jewish Board clinics or other community programs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, e.g. progress notes, assessments and treatment plans, statistics, and other documentation as required by JBFCS and other governmental licensing and funding entities.
  • Conduct intake assessments in the clinic and provide individual, collateral and family therapy, as needed.
  • Provide Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Triple P (and other modalities)
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Travel to multiple locations and sites within the assigned zone (Bronx).
  • Participate as a member of the Early Childhood Treatment Center team, working collaboratively with Family Peer Advocates and Clinicians.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented Behavioral Health Consultants of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree in counseling, creative arts, or social work from an accredited program AND a New York State License or limited permit in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC); Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT), social work (LMSW), or Limited/Licensed Psychologist required.
  • Experience working with young children and families.
  • Fluency in Spanish or French/Creole preferred.
  • Experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience with telemental health platforms a plus.
  • Travel to multiple locations and sites within the assigned zone is required.
