SUMMARY

Coordinates the administration of one or more benefits programs such as basic and major medical coverage, dental insurance, group life insurance, education programs, absence management, emergency loans, and other benefit programs. Answers employee questions regarding eligibility, provisions, and other matters related to benefits. Maintains benefit records and documents necessary for implementing benefits coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits Administration

Assists the Director Benefits & Well-Being in reviewing, analyzing, recommending and administering UR's benefits programs including, but not limited to:

  • Manages annual benefit fairs and open enrollment sessions and act as liaison with vendors.
  • Assists in preparation of employee benefit booklets and other employee benefit communications.
  • Conducts bi-weekly benefits orientation for new employees, ensuring presentation is updated as needed.
  • Ensures accuracy and clarity of benefit content on HR website.
  • Develops, plans, and executes benefit educational programs and partners with vendors to determine appropriate educational topics.
  • Manage education, absence management and emergency loan programs for the University.
  • Manages education programs for University employees and dependents.
Absence Management

Researches; recommends solutions; and resolves complex issues and questions regarding all absence management (leave) programs including FML, STD, LTD, parental leave, military leave, etc.
  • Provides information, education, and professional advice/counseling to employees and managers regarding all leave programs.
  • Conducts research and effectively communicates answers to complex questions regarding the application and interpretation of leave policies/procedures.
  • Educates university employees and managers on HR processes/procedures and programs.
  • Respond to employee leave inquiries.
  • Train HR co-workers on leave administration.
  • Document leave procedures.
  • Monitor content on HR webpage and submit changes.
  • Manages absence workflows in Workday including running leave reports, auditing leaves and returns, and processing leave transactions.
Workday Administration

Maintains a general understanding of benefits workflows, benefit plan setup/maintenance and rules, and manages benefit transactions.
  • Enters and ensures accuracy of benefits data to include review of new hires, terminations (including retirement), job changes impacting eligibility, open enrollment, etc.
  • Ensures accuracy of data in the benefits module in Workday, inclusive of benefits enrollment support.
  • Reviews new enrollments (new hires, life events) and all other employee benefit changes.
  • Performs related audits to eligibility, enrollment, and deductions using Workday reporting tools.
Miscellaneous Duties

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office Products
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and flexible in managing multiple projects
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to present information in a group setting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree and 2-5 year's work in Employee Benefits or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $46,114.00 to $61,110.00 annually)
