Summary

The Business Development Associate is responsible for developing new business leads to identify new sales opportunities in the small business sector of the San Diego Employee Health & Benefits department. The primary responsibilities are to lead sales generation activities and manage their daily strategy for establishing new business. The Business Development Associate will also perform market research and analysis that can be utilized for adjusting effective strategies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop sales lead lists in order to set new business appointments for designated Producers in targeted market sectors.
  • Execute prospect campaigns in each market sector, designed to drive qualified new business leads.
  • Perform research for each lead in preparation for strategy while partnering with the Producers for further qualification and interaction.
  • Prioritize leads and remain abreast of market changing conditions.
  • Update SalesForce and necessary systems regarding appointments, contacts and applicable areas.
  • Leverage multiple forms of communication for persistent outreach to designated lead list.
  • Participate in regular sales meetings to present sales performance against objectives and targets in designated market.
  • Perform research on competitors and their offerings; present information to the proper individuals as required.
  • Track and provide reporting to Leadership detailing call activity, pipeline updates and lead generation results.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • College degree required.
  • Active Life and Health License in CA preferred.
  • Business development experience and/or telemarketing preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and present results neatly, with clarity and precision in oral and written form.
  • A confident and determined approach with the capacity to flourish in a competitive environment.
  • Resilience and the ability to cope with rejection.
  • A high degree of self-motivation and drive.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office applications and the ability to operate standard office equipment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must maintain client confidentiality.
  • A valid Drivers License reliable transportation is required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Extended work hours (10 - 12 hrs/day) may be required due to attendance at and participation in networking and industry functions that begin before the workday, and extend into the evening.
  • Office environment.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $59,000 to $110,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
