Caregiver

Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) is seeking full-time Caregivers to join their PACE Home Care team in MI! The Caregiver will assist Senior Community Care of Michigan PACEparticipants with activities of daily living and promote a high quality of life and wellbeing. The Caregiver will be responsible for the accurate documentation of cares given and observations.

The Senior Community Care of Michigan PACE is a comprehensive, all-inclusive health care choice for seniors in Greater Eckert and the surrounding area. Salary Range: $12.75 - $15.07 an hour

**$2,000 Retention Bonus
Morning and evening shifts are available.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as cues and/or hands on / weight bearing support for activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, bathing, mobility, and transferring.
• Accurate documentation of cares given and pertinent observation.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities, come to all meals and encourage proper food and liquids.
• Maintain order in all areas, including trash removal and outdoor areas.
• Assist with meals, including preparations and clean up.
• Resident laundry and linen changes as a contracted resident option.
• Attend and/or present an in-service meeting as required by the facility. Record documentation.
• Greet visitors and respond to inquiries.
• Orient and introduce new employees and residents.
• Understand and be able to explain all safety and universal precautions in facility.
• Answer emergency calls or telephone calls appropriately. Be able to explain procedures.
• Recognize resident's right to choose. Promote choices to promote well-being, quality of life preservation and highest level of independence.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities, including ambulating or other exercises.
• Attends educational offerings and obtains at least 20 hours of continuing education a year per regulation
• Perform other duties as requested by the Nurse Supervisor or Residence Director.

Required Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Must be eighteen (18) years or older at start date of employment.
• Must have reliable transportation to drive from home to home of senior participants.
• Able to follow verbal and written requests from supervisor or residents.
• Ability to use electronic devices such as cell phone, walkie-talkie, IPad, computers.
• Able to work with seniors of varying levels of verbal or physical limitations.
• Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as evenings, nights or weekends.
• Able to make an appropriate decision in an emergency situation.
• Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
• Must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and have means of transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of one year's experience in working with the frail or elderly population.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A minimum of one year's experience in working with the frail or elderly population.
• CPR certification
