Celent - Senior Analyst - Corporate Banking

Celent is a division of Oliver Wyman, and one of the world's leading financial services technology research and advisory firms. For over 20 years, Celent has helped senior executives make confident decisions around their technology strategies to execute at scale. We offer objective advice and clarity, backed by a database of thousands of solutions and award-winning global best practice use cases. With real-life domain expertise, Celent also guides clients through the maze of emerging tech in the pursuit of value.

Our clients are a mix of the world's top financial institutions, technology solutions providers, consulting firms, and private equity firms spread over 30 countries.

The Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for an energetic and ambitious senior analyst to join the fast-growing Corporate Banking team. The team develops the research agenda, produces proprietary content and thought leadership, and provides advice to executives across Corporate, Commercial, and Transaction Banking groups at FIs as well as the technology companies that support them.

You will be a key contributor to driving growth in both Corporate Banking research and its client base and will have the opportunity to bring your creative ideas. The role entails conducting primary research on myriad topics within financial services technology, producing insightful reports; preparing and delivering engaging client, conference, and webinar presentations; collecting and curating primary and secondary data; and conducting interviews, surveys, and briefings. Additionally, the analyst will participate in short, high-impact strategy consulting engagements.

Research: Conduct leading-edge research and publish content focusing on technology trends and implications for corporate and transaction banking. This may include technology trends, how emerging technologies can be deployed for strategic advantage, and profiling technology solutions to help our clients navigate a complex technology landscape.

Strategy consulting: Work directly with our clients to address specific strategic issues where technology has a significant impact. This may include technology strategy workshops, solution due diligence, market entry/expansion strategy, thought leadership pieces, and speaking engagements.

Individual profile and Celent brand promotion: Develop a high profile and strengthen the company brand in your domain and region of expertise. This includes regular discussions and interactions with Celent clients, presenting at banking forums and conferences, and being available to the technology community for discussions and questions.

Your Attributes and Experience

We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for and competency in understanding the potential business value of technology across the Commercial, Corporate, and Transaction Banking sectors. In addition, we seek a person with a keen interest in how the segment and technology-led innovations will evolve over the next few years and beyond while maintaining a grounded and pragmatic perspective on what's possible.

We anticipate that candidates with experience in strategy, IT architecture, and/or project/product management, especially digital transformation will excel in this role.

The candidate should enjoy research, especially interview-based research, and writing. The person should be comfortable with and capable of building trusted relationships with clients who are often senior executives.

Academic background:

  • Excellent academic credentials from a top university.
  • MBA or other advanced degrees (MS, PhD, etc.), in or with option in data or computer science is preferred.

Professional experience:
  • 5+ years' experience in a top financial institution (bank preferred) with some responsibility for technology strategy or product/project management
  • 5+ years' experience in a management consulting firm, or other research & advisory firm in a strategy, research, or consulting role.

Skill and expertise:
  • Intellectual curiosity and the drive to learn about and master new areas
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach to working in a global, culturally diverse environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Growing public profile and reputation with strong public speaking and facilitation skills
  • Strong understanding of research methods, qualitative and quantitative
  • A working knowledge of the role technology plays in shaping Corporate, Commercial, and Transaction Banking
  • A keen interest in understanding emerging technologies and their relationship to fintech innovations
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently

Location:
  • Geographic region is flexible, either in North America or Europe. Specific location is flexible; either working from home or from an Oliver Wyman office.
