Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Research Professor is a non-tenure track position responsible for research, writing, and research- connected administrative tasks related to the development, management, and completion of university: community collaborative research projects at the Center for Urban Research and Learning.
For this particular position, the individual will be the project coordinator for evaluation work Loyola is doing with United Way on their community development work in Cook County. This position will be responsible for coordinating meetings, communication among the many university and community partners, data collection, reporting, and other related tasks.

More broadly, the Assistant Research Professor is also responsible for the following duties and responsibilities for this work (and similar future work) at CURL:

1. Coordinating research activities and providing mentorship of CURL Graduate Fellows and other CURL Collaborative Project Researchers.

2. Conducting community-based research (conceptualization of research methodologies, collecting data, analyzing data, and writing final research reports)

3. Facilitating collaborative research teams consisting of other faculty, graduate students, undergraduate, and community leaders during the course of the research.

4. Working collaboratively with community partners in completing research projects, e.g. assist in convening meetings, attend research planning meetings, develop research project concept papers, assist in specific research tasks, mentor community staff members on specific research methods, and assist in writing final reports.

5. Writing grants for CURL research and project funding. This would also include assistance in identifying potential funders, meetings with community partners to shape research proposal, and follow-up with funders before or after grant is received.

6. Meeting regularly with other CURL staff in coordinating research activities that may be linked to other ongoing CURL collaborative research projects.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will possess:
*PhD in relevant social science field; *At least 2-3 years of collaborative, community-based research experience; *At least 2-3 years of directing qualitative and quantitative evaluation research projects; *Strong interpersonal skills working with diverse audiences in collaborative research setting; *Strong skills in statistical analysis and data collection, including univariate and multivariate statistical applications with use of SPSS and other similar analysis software; *Knowledge and experience in working with NVivo software for qualitative data analysis; *Extensive skills and experience writing for a diverse set of audiences (i.e. academic, policy, community, etc.).

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:

PhD or equivalent educational background within a professional field. Experience in completing research in social science or public policy areas. Background in working with community-based participatory research or collaborative university community.
