Cenovus is looking for accredited college/university students who are seeking an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a refining environment.  We are looking for individuals who can bring fresh ideas to our team, and who are willing to learn from some of the industry's most innovative and talented people.

Responsibilities

  • Perform unit tests and analyzing operating data to improve profitability
  • Assist staff engineers with designs of less complex equipment such as piping, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.
  • Provide operating data for planning, operations improvement, economic evaluations, etc.
  • Assist staff engineers with troubleshooting to determine cause and solutions to operating problems
  • Maintain and develop key performance indicators (KPI's) for the process units
Qualifications
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided
  • As this position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, a valid US Driver's License is required
  • Previous experience is considered an asset
  • Strong attitude for carrying out all work practices in a safe manner while adhering to our Life Saving Rules
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Preference will be given to students in 3rd or 4th year
  • Availability for multiple work terms is preferred
  • Strong academic performance
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the scheduled semester
  • Attached copies of transcripts
Working Conditions
  • May include frequency of sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site outdoors, etc.


Safety Sensitive
  • This is a safety sensitive role and as such you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours while working out in the refinery. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the Cenovus pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
  • Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle. A valid US Driver's License with no restrictions is a requirement for this role.
Relocation
Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses.

Note: Candidates must have their own means of transportation as there is limited public transportation to/from refinery locations.
