  • Collaborate with External Affairs and SCS Foundation team members on projects that support the department’s goal of elevating Selfhelp’s external visibility and influence and promote our organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation to increase the reach of the Foundation’s messaging to Selfhelp’s external audiences, specifically donors. Includes writing and editing reports, appeals, and special projects for grant funders and individual donors.
  • Coordinate and grow Selfhelp’s press coverage. Including but not limited to: writing press pitches, sending pitches to reporters, posting pitches on local blogs and/or on the press wire, connecting with relevant reporters online, maintaining an updated email list of reporters by topic, maintaining an internal list of press hits and posting on Selfhelp’s website, and coordinating incoming press requests.
  • Act as liaison between External Affairs team and the Foundation and key outreach/committee staff to better coordinate external messaging to include organizational, fundraising, and outreach priorities.
  • Write and copy-edit external and internal communications coming from External Relations, the Foundation, and relevant Executive (Council) members and their departments. This includes projects such as the Annual Report, eblasts to the community, and DEI communications.
  • Assist with ongoing work related to branding.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Communications Associate in designing materials, including social media content, that is in line with Selfhelp branding standards and supports our digital strategy.
  • Write and send regular eblasts and communications to both staff and external partners, collaborating with the Foundation and Program Directors when necessary.
  • Liaise and support program staff with communications needs, including the development of materials and email communications.
  • Assist with advertising initiatives by researching costs, developing proposals, and designing advertisements.
  • Represent Selfhelp at various external meetings including with government officials, media requests, and committee meetings.
  • Adhere to organization’s standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance.
