What We Are Looking For

The Compliance and Employment Attorney provides advice to the organization on a variety of legal issues, including employment law, compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution and litigation. They ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations on a local and federal basis. This role also coordinates with outside counsel to provide legal advice when necessary.

What You Will Do

• Provide legal advice to business units and functions on a variety of employment legal issues, domestically and internationally
• Provide counsel to HR globally regarding employee relations issues such as hiring, terminations, promotions, demotions, performance evaluations, layoffs, restructurings, and leave requests to minimize and prevent adverse legal impact
• Understand employment laws in international jurisdictions where employment matters frequently arise (Mexico, Costa, Rica, UK, and Germany) and act as main point of contact with foreign external counsel
• Prepare and revise internal organization policies and procedures to ensure compliance with domestic and international employment laws and regulations
• Provide training to internal business clients to ensure compliance with domestic and international employment laws and regulations
• Manage resolution of potential and actual legal disputes and litigations of employment related matters including communication with outside and opposing counsel
• Provide counsel to HR and across all business units to mitigate legal risks
• Oversee and conduct internal ethics investigations pertaining to employment related issues
• Conduct legal research on a variety of legal topics
• Maintain working knowledge of current domestic and international laws, regulations, and case law in employment law
• Inform management on pending legislation, and changes in employment laws and regulations that could affect the organization and provide advice on what actions need to be taken to comply
• Coordinate with domestic and international outside counsel to assist in addressing various employment legal issues
• Draft and counsel on various employment related contracts, termination agreements and other contractual documents

What You Will Bring

• Required Degree: Juris Doctor, Bachelor's Degree
• Certificate(s): Admitted to practice in Illinois
• Experience: Minimum of four years of relevant legal experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills
• Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
• Excellent organization and presentation skills
