Job Summary
The Component Engineer evaluates and documents product components, including evaluating alternative suppliers, testing performance per spec, and creating part specifications. This role will focus on AC Power products (UPS, Static Switch, PDU) and assist with part qualification and specification documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D models using sheet metal and part modeling functionality in CAD
  • Create drawings and bills of material for sheet metal, bus bar, and purchased parts.
  • Generate complex assembly drawings and bill of materials.
  • Revise product documentation in CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database using our revision control system.
  • Write, submit, and release engineering changes in our PLM database.
  • Ability to interpret agency design standards (Such as UL and IEC) for our products.
  • Create product submittal drawings for finished designs
  • Support prototype build process for your designs
  • Support prototype/product testing as needed - typically assisting in thermal, mechanical layout, and mechanical strength issues.
Requirements:
  • 2-year or 4-year Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degree; must be strong in both
  • At least 3 years' related experience
  • General knowledge of single and three phase power.
  • Able to interpret electrical schematics and familiarity with electrical components such as fuses, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Simulation experience is a plus (ANSYS, thermal/airflow)
  • Oracle Cloud PLM experience is a plus.
  • Experience in DFS (Design for Service/Serviceability) is a plus.
  • Experience in PCBA design or component selection is a plus.
  • Experience with cable and harness design is a plus.
  • 3D CAD experience is a must; prefer Creo 6+ with sheet metal experience.
  • Skill in personal computer use and various applications programs, i.e. spreadsheets, CAD, word processing, Outlook, communications, etc.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
