Position: Contract Community First Choice (CFC)

Location: Garland, TX

Pay: $15.00 hourly

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Attendant for a 62 year old female who lives with her mother/guardian. She needs full assistance with eating, meal planning, personal hygiene, ambulation, and transportation. She is non-verbal, uses a gait belt, and needs assistance when walking. She has been diagnosed with Profound Intellectual Disability Rett Syndrome. She is a happy person and enjoys when her siblings come to visit. She enjoys listening to other people talk, music, and watching game shows and football on television. She also enjoys relaxing outside in the sun room in a calm environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiently communicates in the functional language of the individual to whom the Contract CFC staff is assigned
• Feels comfortable working in close physical proximity to individual while frequently using touch to communicate with and instruct individuals who are primarily tactile learners
• Demonstrates emotional maturity, stability, and ability to perform under stress, and possesses frustration tolerance
• Shows ability to exercise good judgment, cooperation, tact, and discretion in dealing with the individual, family, etc.
• Shows interest in developing additional knowledge and skills

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must NOT be the spouse of the individual to whom the Contract CFC staff is assigned: or if the individual is under 18 years of age, a parent of the individual to whom the Intervener is assigned.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Valid Texas Drivers' License.
