PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The purpose of this position is to schedule invasive procedures for the Cardiovascular and Imaging Services departments, as well as to serve as the central liaison for the current radiologist group, Cath Lab/Cardiovascular staff, radiology staff, and physician offices. This position provides support by coordinating phone calls, schedules and meetings, as well as ordering office supplies and assisting with projects assigned by management.

JOB DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duty 1: Schedules invasive procedures in the Electronic Health Record for Imaging and Cardiovascular services and follows the protocol for such scheduling. Reviews provider's orders for completeness and accuracy. Obtains additional documentation as necessary. Efficient in operation of the document imaging system. Scans and retrieves all pertinent documents, assures that scanned images are legible and of good quality.
  • Duty 2: Shows initiative. Tasks are completed before the end of the shift and aids in the preparation for the next day. Use time wisely, does not allow for unimportant interruptions. Able to multi-task, prioritize work, and complete it in a timely manner.
  • Duty 3: Supplies prompt and ample support to imaging and cardiovascular staff including associated providers by coordinating phone calls, schedules, and meetings.
  • Duty 4: Greets patients in a courteous and confidential manner, checks patients in and keeps departments informed in regards to patient's arrivals and needs.
  • Duty 5: Offers ABN and obtains necessary signatures as appropriate. Documents activity in the appropriate electronic health record. Informs the patient of any financial responsibility.
  • Duty 6: Modifies, reviews, and creates new encounters ensuring the correct encounters are always being used. Enters physician's orders into the electronic health record accurately as needed.
  • Duty 7: Provides exemplary customer service to all individuals. Acts as a liaison between BVHS and the patient/family to resolve issues. Possesses ability to explain procedures, wait time expectations, hospital policies, etc.
  • Duty 8: Demonstrates good positive communication skills, communicates daily via telephone, fax, email to physicians, referring providers, offices, patients, to ensure satisfaction of those we serve. Communicates closely with interdepartmental staffs coordinating the schedules and obtaining proper paperwork, orders and previous diagnostic test when needed.
  • Duty 9: Demonstrates knowledge of the department and management line of authority and follows proper lines of communication. Shows good problem-solving skills yet seeks guidance and direction as necessary. Adheres to all policies, procedures, rules and regulations as they pertain to the department.
  • Duty 10: Maintains equipment and supplies used as part of the department processes, troubleshooting problems with fax machines and copiers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Medical Terminology coursework or knowledge
  • Data entry and/or Computer skills necessary
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status. Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures
  • Moderate exposure in regard to universal precautions
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Related college experience
  • Registration experience
  • Clerical/Receptionist experience with public contact
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit continuously for six hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle for business travel and community involvement.

This position is classified "at risk" for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
