Job Summary:

The Data Engineer III will be responsible for assisting in the development of Mueller's data and information architecture on AWS Cloud and Microsoft SQL Server. This position will be a key contributor leading and facilitating Mueller's transformation from hosted infrastructure to the cloud.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement monitoring and alerting at database level
  • Enable and maintain disaster recovery workflows for large scale SQL Server databases
  • Manage AWS cloud-based database backups and data lifecycle management
  • Develop normalized and performant schema designs for large scale IoT data structures
  • Design and implement a cloud data platform providing secure and responsive access to large datasets
  • Interface with customers to gather requirements and develop complete data reporting solutions
  • Provide agile project management for large scale data related projects
  • Create cloud/S3 data lake as primary repository for unstructured data from various disparate data sources including IoT sensors, manufacturing, and ERP systems
  • Perform testing and tuning of queries and big data applications
  • Document overall data architecture, deployment topologies, and table design
  • Work with Mueller Information Security team to ensure data security and integrity
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Sr. Director of Engineering


Qualifications:
  • BS CE, or CS or similar degree
  • 4+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • 4+ years experience in data modeling, ETL, and reporting
  • 2-3 years experience with AWS cloud data managed services
  • Deep knowledge and experience with SQL Server Enterprise including SQL Clustering, TSQL, SSIS, Replication and Performance Tuning
  • Deep knowledge and experience in enterprise data architectures including RDBMS, Columnar, and Cloud managed services
  • Knowledge and experience with AWS cloud services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and Arora
  • Experience with basic SQL Server DBA tasks including instance monitoring, redundancy, recovery, index analysis, and performance tuning
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server Administration including PowerShell scripting
  • Experience in Agile/SCRUM development environment
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Scala, R, JavaScript or .NET/C#
  • Linux/bash shell scripting experience
