Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean of McClellan/Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center provides administrative leadership in the planning, organization, and evaluation of the regional public safety instructional programs and services of the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center (SRPSTC), and other McClellan Center Career Technical and general education programs.

The Dean of McClellan/Sacramento Regional Public Safety Center performs duties in the administration and supervision of the McClellan Center which includes establishing the overall direction and development of American River College's McClellan Center.

Assignment Responsibilities:

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:

● Providing general supervision of the affairs of the McClellan Center.
● Administering the McClellan Center day, evening and summer offerings.
● Providing leadership for continuous evaluation and improvement of assigned instructional programs.
● Providing leadership in curriculum development activities for assigned areas of responsibility.
● Coordinating the McClellan Center program with the main campus, such as the final exam schedule, flex activities for adjunct faculty, and supervision of staff and faculty.
● Fostering new program development as appropriate.
● Arranging for Student Support Services at the McClellan Center.
● Arranging for the sale of books through the ARC Bookstore at the McClellan Center.
● Administering procedures for the use and protection of college/district property in areas of assigned responsibility.
● Encouraging certificate and degree completion, job preparation, and transfer.

● Overseeing coordination, development, and scheduling of curriculum offerings and the monitoring of instructor assignments.
● Serving as liaison with POST, STC, State's Fire Marshall's Office, and other regional public safety agencies.
● Working with advisory committees and the Joint Partnership Authority (JPA) in the areas of responsibility to ensure course program viability and the needs of the regional area are being met.
● Assisting with management/monitoring of district vocational training agreements and contract education.
● Serving on local, district, and state committees as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction or College President.
● Participating as a management team member in general activities related to personnel, support, facilities, and funding of instructional programs.
● Developing and maintaining communication with the main campus through the use of a courier service, e-mail and voice mail.
● Providing communication to the main campus support services, such as instructional media, assessment, telecommunications needs, counseling services and other services as needed.
● Coordinating curriculum and McClellan Center course offerings with the instructional area deans.

● Preparing, recommending and administering budget allocations and administering the annual program budget.
● Preparing instructionally related programs, facilities, personnel, financial, descriptive and analytical reports.
● Assuring the certification requirements of POST, STC, State Fire Marshall's Office and other regional public safety agencies are met.
● Ensuring all Title V and Ed Code policies and procedures related to public safety training are adhered to.
● Working proactively to monitor and ensure growth and productivity goals are attained.
● Keeping statistical records regarding enrollment, WSCH, etc. for the McClellan Center.
● Developing reports as they apply to the enrollments, etc. of the McClellan Center.
● Maintaining agreements and contracts with host sites.

● Assisting in coordinating instructional personnel policies and procedures of the college and district.
● Supervising and responsibility for instructional programs in fire technology, pre-service and post-service law enforcement training, administration of justice, probation, and other programs offered at the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center.
● Participating in the personnel selection process including developing and reviewing selection criteria, recruiting, screening, interviewing, and recommending within area of responsibility, and supervises and evaluates assigned staff, both faculty and classified.
● Assisting in interpreting college programs and services to the general public.
● Arranging training opportunities for the McClellan Center classified staff that they may retain currency in school, district policy, and operations.
● Providing professional development for adjunct faculty assigned to McClellan Center classes.
● Ensuring the center follows Title V, Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), and Fire Marshall and Board of Corrections Standards for Training (STC) requirements.
● Supervising off-campus training centers providing regional public safety training for the Los Rios Community College District.

● Performing other duties as assigned.

The administrative assignment may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus work and/or hours.

12 month

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Have a master's degree* from an accredited institution completed by January 1, 2022.

2. Have one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.

3. Possess a minimum of two years law enforcement experience as a permanent first-level supervisor or higher. (most commonly the rank of sergeant).

4. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
