Job Description:


The Department of Human Development in the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) at Binghamton University invites applications for two full-time lecturer appointments with an expected start date of fall 2024. The initial appointment is for three years; the appointment is renewable. The successful candidate will have an established record of effective teaching and be required to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses across programs as needed. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to design and deliver courses using traditional classroom, online, and hybrid teaching methodologies. We welcome candidates who believe in a student-centered approach to teaching and who have a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. The teaching load for this position is three courses each fall and spring semester.


In addition to teaching, candidates would be asked to provide service to the department in one of more of the following areas:


  • Coordinate, and oversee the immigration studies minor.
  • Oversight and support of students in the MSHR certificate program
  • Work with faculty to plan and executive the MSHR speaker's series
  • Serve as the accelerated 4+1 MSHR Advisor
  • Serve on the Curriculum Committees for the undergraduate Human Development Program and MS in Human Rights program.
  • Serve in the recruitment efforts for the Undergraduate Human Development Program and the graduate MSHR program
  • Attend department meetings and HDEV/MSHR committee meetings
  • Be available for service appointments, such as search committees and local presentations and other departmental duties as needed


Requirements:

Candidate is required to have at a minimum a Master's degree with a Ph.D. preferred (completed by 2024) in human development, human rights, cultural studies, gender studies, sexuality studies, or related fields.
