SUMMARY

Leading analysis and data insights for the growth organization, the Director of Business Analytics will build and lead a team to own merchandising and customer-related analytics that support the organization's overall growth strategy. The leader will have a strong understanding of retail and loyalty metrics and be a key driver of operational performance and strategy. This position may interact with the direct leader several times a week to receive guidance and feedback and requires a high level of autonomy and decision making, often without leader's advance approval.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Own analytics for customer and merchandising functions, identify, scope, and lead priority analytics projects for the business
  • Support definition, measurement, and improvement of merchandising and marketing related KPIs
  • Combine conceptual thinking for framework creation with strong quantitative orientation to solve complex problems with rigorous analytics and monitoring
  • Design models to measure, predict, and improve customer engagement and market share
  • Provide leadership to analysts to translate complex and vague problems into actionable workstreams in a timely manner
  • Communicate results clearly and concisely to the organization, visualize data in a compelling and actionable format
  • Expand and own test and learn capabilities
  • Partner with organization to identify gaps in data, tools, and systems and identify new solutions and roadmap to implement
  • Develop executive and operational dashboards and data visualizations to track and improve performance
  • Focus on achieving short- and long-term goals. Drive and execute an agenda in uncertain, fluid environment with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate tenacious decision making able to bring healthy, aggressive yet responsible approach to business
  • Continuously improve and fine-tune the models based on latest research on modelling techniques, macro-economic factors, historical data trends
  • Automate the execution and usage of such models for the end customers by developing appropriate usage tools
  • Act as key translation link between the data and analytics team members in communication to the business

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative field such as Business Analytics, Data Science, Math, Statistics, etc. or 5+ years relevant experience
  • 10 + years of experience in a business analytics role in modelling, product / marketing analytics
  • Experience creating enterprise reporting and visualizations in Power BI, Tableau, or another similar environment
  • 4+ years leading teams and analytical projects, experience with merchandising and customer analytics highly preferred
  • Understanding of statistical modeling techniques and appropriate use of different methods
  • A proven track record of using data to provide actionable business results.
  • Demonstrable relationship building and collaboration skills; ability to influence and drive outcomes in large, matrixed, and geographically dispersed organizations.
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and schedules to successful completion.
  • Superior communication and persuasion skills; talent for storytelling, visualization and creating insights from data to deliver practical recommendations for business action.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Retail, Ecommerce, and/or loyalty analytics experience is preferred
