Overview

The Director, Market Research will lead market research for a late stage, multi-indication asset. Through deep and actionable consumer insights, this individual will support launch readiness for the lead indication. This individual will have the responsibility to design and execute strategic and tactical customer insight projects and shape commercial strategy through those insights. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Forecasting, Insights and Analytics, this role will be a key member of the Commercial Effectiveness team, and will partner and collaborate closely with Analytics, Marketing, Forecasting and Market Access colleagues.

The overall objective of the role is to lead the design and execution of primary research that spans multiple indications for the Commercial organization. He/she will be responsible for delivering high-quality business insights into Insmed's current and future product portfolio decision making and keeping the organization aware of relevant competitors' actions in the inflammation space. This individual will work closely with marketing and analytics teams to design strategic research plans to address business questions, inform strategy development and support portfolio planning. Responsibilities include vendor selection and management, planning and management of primary market research studies, integration of secondary data insights, tracking competitive landscape and presenting insights to cross-functional teams. She/He will serve as an internal consultant to senior leadership by providing strategic insights into Insmed's target markets, thereby helping key internal stakeholders make informed strategic decisions. This individual will partner closely with key internal stakeholders (Brand Teams, Market Access, Sales, Commercial Effectiveness, IT, Patient Services, Legal, Compliance) to accomplish the responsibilities of this role.

Responsibilities

Additional representative responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Collaborate across the organization to identify and anticipate business questions that will provide actionable insights to the commercial team
  • Ensure cross-functional communication and alignment to maximize impact of insights on business strategy
  • Develop expertise in relevant therapeutic areas, related commercial products, and assets in development to ensure accurate data interpretation; become a trusted strategic partner to key internal stakeholders
  • Conduct the design & execution of primary qualitative and quantitative market research projects, including defining the research objectives, framing critical business questions, defining the market research approach, study management, analyzing and interpreting the outcomes (e.g. narrative analysis, factor analysis, , perceptual mapping) and communicate the results with clarity.
  • Integrate primary market research insights with supporting secondary data findings to build a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the marketplace and key business issues creating value-added insights
  • Synthesize research findings to inform pre-launch marketing strategies and portfolio planning
  • Lead the annual brand plan situation analysis exercise


Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in business, marketing, statistics, or related field is required; MBA, MS or other advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in strategic consulting, market research, or business development in the biopharmaceutical industry is required
  • Launch preparation market research experience required
  • Ability to identify and understand the business opportunities and develop a research plan that will provide insights with the goal of ensuring brand growth
  • Ability to manage multiple competing projects across in-line and pipeline brands across multiple indications
  • Ability to dig deeper into the insights and identify the 'why' behind the data and trends
  • Able to effectively present meaningful business opportunities and challenges in strategic terms
  • Excellent collaborative, consultative and solution minded approach working across multiple functions to lead, influence and persuade, without direct authority, through compelling oral and written communication anchored in sound business logic and evidence
  • Strong and agile team player able to adapt and execute based on evolving business needs


Travel Requirements

Up to 5% travel.

Salary Range

Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
The base salary range for this job is from $165,000.00 to $231,667.00
