OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Field Enablement, the Director of Sales Training will lead and drive organizational effectiveness around onboarding, training, and upskilling the Corporate Engagement team. The objectives of this role are conducting skills gap analyses to identify areas of improvement, designing training curricula within time and budget constraints and producing physical and digital educational material (e.g. videos and case studies) to maximizes sales effectiveness and revenue potential. The Director, Sales Training will leverage industry best practices and maintain relevance to current business needs. This role builds a scalable training framework positioned for continued capacity and performance achievement. The ideal candidate thrives on problem solving; works well with ambiguity and is motivated to create offerings that empower sales teams. Ultimately, you will help increase the overall performance of our sales teams and ensure they have the skills to achieve their goals.

In keeping with Year Up's values, the Director of Sales Training will also have the opportunity to interact with students as coach, group facilitator, mentor and advocate, participating in creating and sustaining a positive educational environment, with trust among students, faculty, and site leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic & Consultative Selling Competencies

  • Conduct skills gap analysis to identify areas of improvement
  • Design training curriculum within time and budget constraints
  • Produce physical and digital educational material (e.g. videos and case studies)
  • Onboard new salespeople
  • Coordinate individual and team performance review sessions to discuss strengths and growth areas
  • Monitor sales objectives and results
  • Collect feedback from trainees and managers about training courses
  • Report on impact of training programs (e.g. sales achieved)
  • Liaise with external trainers or industry professionals and organize seminars
  • Maintain updated records of training material, curriculum and costs
  • Own responsibility for CE Webinar Learning series conducted monthly, ie. Identifying topic, gathering SMEs for contribution, and delivery of content through web learning
  • Other duties as assigned

Content, Communications & Upskilling Support

  • Ensure that all onboarding materials, Box content, and training modules are updated when necessary
  • In partnership with the Director of Sales Enablement, create and distribute weekly advisory content (currently, Getting to the Point) newsletter that informs key process, policy and tools updates and any necessary actions needed from the sales team

Upskilling & Onboarding

  • Partner with sales leadership to create and implement a sales upskilling roadmap with the goal of positioning Corporate Engagement staff for career progression and succession planning
  • Collaborate with sales leaders and cross functional teams to develop practical sales training content that paces with business changes, deepens partner relationships, nurtures goal achievement and expands sales skill development
  • Oversee onboarding process for all new hires, including providing training on tools and resources.
  • Organize and facilitate Corporate Engagement Baseline for new hires
  • Partner with Sales Enablement and Service Delivery in partnership with local program staff on monthly systems trainings for Corporate Engagement

National Team Member/Learning Community Member

  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings
  • Interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven work experience as a Sales Trainer or similar role
  • Experience in a sales position is a plus
  • Ability to manage the full training cycle, including in-person activities and web-based learning
  • Hands-on experience with e-learning platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Solid communication and presentation abilities
  • BS degree in Education, Human Resources or relevant field preferred, but not required
  • Additional certification in training is a plus

NYC Salary Range: $98,000 -$147,100

California Salary Range: $100,300 - 117,033

Rhode Island Salary Range: $88,900 - 103,733

Washington Salary Range: $91,200 - 106,400

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Year Up has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets. For roles in which the location is listed as flexible, the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Salary offers take into account a candidate's skills, experience, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.

  • Vacation: Earn three weeks paid vacation in first year of employment; four weeks after initial year.
