We are looking for a Dispatcher to join our team in Franklin Park, IL. We have an immediate opening on days for a full-time Dispatcher. This position is responsible to dispatching all truckload shipments from the Carlisle facility to ensure the appropriate carrier and mode is selected to minimize freight cost and insure exceptions free delivery. Calculate freight cost on all truckload shipments from the Carlisle facility and apply accessorial charges accurately. Confirm delivery of jobsite shipments with customer. Position is responsible for the expenditure of approximately $6 million per year. Assist Traffic Supervisor in managing carrier base.

Pay Range: $48,000.00 to $65,000.00 (per year)

Job Responsibilities:

* Dispatch - Dispatches outbound truckload shipments to approved carriers for timely delivery to our customers. Works closely with Sales, Customer Service, and our base of carriers to insure the efficient delivery of our goods. Must have good analytical skills to examine each delivery for type of equipment needed, length of haul, calculate freight cost, and carrier lane preference.
* Customer Service Follow-up - Trace or re-consign truckload shipments on outbound basis to provide administrators with up-to-date shipment information as needed. Provide truckload freight quotes on individual shipments to Customer Service. Adds, changes, and deletions on allocated shipping orders are performed routinely. Confirm job site deliveries with customers. Forward all shipment discrepancies to the Traffic Supervisor for review.
* Carrier Interface - Work to maintain good carrier relations and communications. Ensure proper trailer numbers are assigned to loads in conjunction with carrier requests. Follow-up on trailer damage with carrier maintenance personnel. Work with carriers to understand needs regarding reload possibilities and specific lanes that they prefer to haul goods. Document late carrier deliveries and follow-up with Customer Service to resolve and or file claim with the carrier to re-cover additional costs. Record late deliveries in SFIS.
* Detention - Take proactive steps to avoid detention. Document detention charges incurred and notify customer service for direct billing to customer. Review all detention freight bills and insure they are correct and accurate for Traffic Supervisor's approval. Process detention charges in SFIS.
* Transportation Costs - Responsible for using the most economical carrier to meet the requirements of our customer. Responsible for calculating truckload freight charges and assigning these charges to the correct product code for entry in the delivery. Negotiate spot contracts to move specific loads in difficult transportation lanes. Responsible for the expenditure of approximately $6 million per year.
* Help Traffic Supervisor/Clerks assess material availability versus delivery date, developing options to avoid backorders. Serves as backup to the Traffic Supervisor/Clerks. Support/fill in for other shipping office staff. Cross training required to be able to do all job tasks.
