Overview

ARS/Rescue Rooter is seeking a Division Safety Manager to oversee 8 branch locations in Southern California. The Division Safety Manager provides risk analysis and safety support to the division by implementing and managing various programs that preserve and protect the assets of workforce, fleet and buildings against loss.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the development, implementation and monitoring of safety and environmental programs to meet all governmental regulations, codes and rules.
  • Investigates conditions and loss experience to identify risks or exposure. Communicates risks and develops plan of action for correction.
  • Identifies legal risks and ensures accuracy in OSHA reporting for the division to avoid legal actions and fines. Takes precautionary steps to contact legal counsel and/or make appropriate corrections.
  • Reviews and approves all division safety policies. Coaches managers and safety coordinators on safety policy development and implementation.
  • Conducts employee training on safety procedures relating to specialized work assignments.
  • Coordinates divisional injury, accident and fire prevention programs to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards
  • Reviews employee complaints and suggestions related to safety for input on conditions at the service center level.
  • Provides training to safety coordinators, managers and key staff on safety policies, hazard identification, elimination and avoidance.
  • Conducts safety audits of service centers as well as job site visits to check the effectiveness of safety policy at the point of contact with public and work hazards. Observes fleet while on highways to check safety effectiveness. Reviews and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident-free and healthy work environment
  • Develops innovative or improved methods of loss control to include employee selection, training and accountability.
  • Provides safety reports and feedback on management performance based on safety records.
  • Manages and reviews the process of filing insurance claims and conducting accident investigations to ensure that reporting requirements are met.
  • Acts as liaison with insurance carriers and claims managers to promote understanding between parties of the claims compensation process.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related field. Related education and/or training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • 5-7 years of safety and/or risk management experience in a service industry required.
  • Safety certification is preferred.
  • Requires a working knowledge of OSHA compliance, fleet safety, fire safety, labor law and employee relations.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
  • Strong communication and training delivery skills are required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
