LifeMoves and Operations-Food Services are seeking experienced individuals for the position of Driver/Dishwasher to perform a variety of work, which may include driving, transport of nourishing meals, washing dishes used in daily meal preparation. Successful hires will be placed in under the Food Service Manager and will be assigned to our Navigation Center site; and may be asked to provide coverage for our North Bay shelter sites

This position will cross train with food service operations and will assist with other operational functions as needed.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Drive and deliver temperature-controlled food in an organization-owned vehicle.
  • Accurately pack, load, and unload thermal containers and ice chests containing bulk food and supplies, ensuring compliance with established food safety and portioning procedures.
  • Complete food preparation and delivery-related reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Immediately report any issues with organization-owned vehicles to supervisor.
  • Wash dishes using a commercial dishwasher and by hand in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
  • Adhere to proper food handling, kitchen sanitation and safety procedures. This includes maintaining a clean environment by dishwashing, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Clean commercial kitchen work areas including work surfaces, cooking equipment, refrigerators, walls, and floors.
  • Learn and adhere to food service protocols, kitchen appliance/tool protocols, and other safety related measures.
  • With the guidance of the Lead Cook, modifies menus and recipes and prepares foods accordingly.
  • Shares duties and collaborates with the other Cook(s) on different shifts for efficient functioning of food service program.
  • Proficient at using and/or learning electronic systems. Comfortable working with Microsoft Office Suite; Google Workspace familiarity is a plus.
  • Participate in general staff meetings, 1:1's and other meetings and events planned by the Food Services Manager.
  • Must hold a current driver's license and proof of liability insurance.
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds safely and keep up with the physical demands of the job
Position Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) a plus
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • 2-3 years of experience in an institutional or commercial kitchen, which has included the preparing and serving of food, and the cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities.
  • Ability to ensure food is always kept safe by following food safety sanitation guidelines
  • ServSafe Manager Certification Proficient • Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power-point)
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Excellent customer service skills • Experience as an effective team player
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds safely and keep up with the physical demands of the job
