Position Overview

The EHS Coordinator is primarily accountable to implement and maintain effective EHS and loss control programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulatsions, OSHA and Novelis requirements. The incumbent advises management of the effectiveness of these programs, the need for corrective or preventive action, and the implications of related laws and regulations.

The successful candidate must be able to work in a team oriented organization and have the ability to manage multiple duties and projects simultaneously. This requires the individual to be adaptive, self-motivated and able to work across all boundaries, which include all internal functional areas, as well as networking with EHS professionals within the North American Region.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA Regulations and Novelis Performance Standards

  • Develop, implement and maintain enviornmental programs that meet federal, state local, and Novelis requirements.
  • Responsible for all federal, state, local environmental permitting and reporting requirements.
  • Provide advice and counsel concerning EHS compliance, laws, codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Collects and evaluates information on identified EHS issues and proposes recommendations/alternatives based on specialized knowledge and experience.
  • Audits compliance of major EHS programs to legal and Corporate requirements
Maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Registrations
  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures and documents required in the organization's Business Management System.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits of the management system and required follow up actions.
  • Collect required data and information for management review.
EHS Training
  • Coordinate EHS training required by EPA/OEPA, DOT, OSHA and Novelis.
  • Maintain records of EHS related training.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences/Engineering (or equivalent)

Experience:

3 years experience in Environmental Management

Skills:

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft office
  • Ability to leaern new software programs quickly
Preferred:

Education:

Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM)

Experience:

Experience in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001

Skills:

Possess skills to lead and develop other personnel in order to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives.
Location Profile

Novelis' Warren facility is located in northeast Ohio- approximately an hour drive from Cleveland and an hour and a half from Pittsburgh. The facility built in 1965 applies coating to rolled aluminum beverage can sheet. The sheet is used to make aluminum beverage can lids for global soft drink beer and sparkling water brands. Warren showcases several high-end cultural venues including the Warren Community Amphitheater and Packard Music Hall.
