Listers are responsible for:

  • Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
  • Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
  • Transmitting data as scheduled
  • Assuming full and legal responsibility for use and care of project issued equipment
  • Safeguarding any issued equipment, or project materials against damage, loss, or theft
  • Submitting timely and accurate Time and Expense reports
  • Attending virtually scheduled meetings with other members of the project team
  • Traveling to selected areas within the area and accurately identifying, listing, and recording address and location information on the tablet
  • Editing completed work, and reporting the results of all activities
  • Successfully completing all components of training, including online courses and attendance at a virtual training

RTI International is seeking part-time electronic field listers on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

The Electronic Field Mapping Lister position provides field support for National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted by Research Triangle Institute (RTI). NHANES is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and collects data on the health, nutrition, and physical well-being of the U.S. population.

The Field Listers are assigned to prepare for and conduct listing operations according to project protocols. Listers ensure that field activities are carried out in an efficient and cost-effective manner, that the information recorded is of the highest possible quality, and that all activities are conducted in a professional manner.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old at time of employment
  • Must possess High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening
  • Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
  • Available for entire training and data collection period
  • Able to successfully complete training
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
  • Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop, and other associated equipment
  • Access to password protected WiFI connection for data transmission and administrative responsibilities
  • Able to keep project information confidential
  • Willingness to work in various types of weather conditions and after dark
  • Must have a computer or laptop for completing online training and regularly checking RTI email for project communications
  • Available for short (2-5 days) overnight travel during collection period

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoys interacting with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
  • Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency
  • Able to read and follow electronic maps
  • The data collection period is expected to be July 2024 through September 2024
  • On average, you will be needed part-time approximately 25 hours per week when local work is available but may be up to 40 hours per week when traveling.
  • On average, you should be available to work in the field 4 days each week depending on your assignment.
  • The majority of this work is anticipated to be weekdays during daytime hours.
  • Each of your trips to the field are expected to be at least 6 hours long.
  • Short overnight travel (2-5 days) may be required.

Electronic Field Listers are required to complete trainings which include:

  • Successfully complete all required pretraining activities and training e-courses online
  • Successfully pass all project pre and post training certifications
  • Attendance at all trainings is mandatory
