JOB SUMMARY

The EMC Engineer has oversight of TSI's EMC lab and the technicians that operate the equipment. This position will be the "test methods and EMC design subject matter expert" for TSI on both new product development and sustaining engineering. The responsibilities include wireless communications compliance, internal test documentation and EMC testing performed at outside test labs.

The EMC Engineer will work with the product engineers to ensure proper documentation is provided and then determine what tests are to be performed. The EMC Engineer will create and maintain test procedures and lab records ensuring that testing is conducted in accordance with the latest relevant test standards. Test results from TSI's lab are to be reflective of Final test results from outside test labs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Acts as EMC Testing and EMC design technical expert supporting TSI NPD and continuation projects.
  • Interprets test standard requirements and determines testing to be performed.
  • Provides engineering design concepts to engineering teams to ensure product compliance.
  • Is able to troubleshoot non-compliance issue to a root cause and recommend possible solutions.
  • Stays abreast of changing regulations and test standards.
  • Research Standards to ensure design engineering teams comply with the latest standards.
  • Consults TSI's Regulatory specialist regarding domestic and international product compliance regulations as they apply to TSI products to include but not limited to: Electromagnetic Emissions, Immunity, Wireless communication protocols, Safety.
  • Plays an active role in the development team to ensure that the EMC Compliance effort remains on schedule and within budget.
  • Supervises EMC lab technicians.
  • Reviews test reports generated by the EMC lab technicians and ensure they are clear, accurate, and error free.
  • Ensures that TSI maintains an organized and effective EMC Lab and test equipment is well maintained and in calibration.
  • Identifies equipment or other improvements needed as regulations and TSI's needs change.
  • Maintains lab such that data created in TSI's lab is reflective of results from outside accredited labs. Develops/Maintains standard procedures and templates related to EMC, Safety or other area of compliance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • SupervisesEMC lab technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years using antenna, RF generators and RF Amplifiers, Spectrum Analyzers to conduct RF emission/immunity testing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in interpretation and application of regulatory agency product standards and test procedures.

DESIRED
  • MS in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • A minimum of 5 years of product development experience in a regulated industry.
  • Expertise in application of standards including UL, CSA, FCC, EN, Wireless, etc.
  • Experience with EN 61326 & RED
  • Quality training such as a six-sigma green belt program.
  • Experience leading and training other regulatory compliance engineers.
  • Proficiency in Visio, OneNote and SharePoint.
