Basic Function

The Polymers Process Engineer position is based in Clinton, Iowa at a petrochemical plant with two Polyethylene units and an Olefins unit. This role will support the Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) production process which includes the reaction of ethylene to polyethylene and the transfer systems of produced pellets. This position provides technical consultation to detect and resolve deviations in quality, production, and yield, as well as development of documentation including procedures on unit operation. This position will identify, recommend, and implement strategic projects to improve unit performance. Typical assignments will support other on-site teams and require close collaboration with other workgroups. Candidates must exemplify a strong ability to drive results through innovative solutions, collaborate within and lead effective teams, and build strong customer relationships. The ability to manage competing and frequently changing priorities is critical.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Advocate and drive improvements in safety and environmental performance
• Monitor and improve daily operation of the polymer lines by working directly with Operations personnel
• Develop and implement projects to reduce risk, increase reliability, improve product quality, and reduce costs
• Participate and lead process hazard reviews and management of change initiatives
• Participate on cross-functional improvement teams within the site
• Contribute in a team environment and establish working relationships with onsite and offsite functional groups to achieve results
• Provide process design support for capital projects
• Balance day-to-day operational priorities with long term strategic objectives to support company objectives

Min. Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemical Engineering
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred, polymers experience highly valued
• Demonstrated technical skills and process troubleshooting experience preferred
• Good troubleshooting skills and techniques
• Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all departments and levels of the organization

Schedule: option of working a 9-8-0 flex schedule or a 5-8 schedule with the ability to work from home 2 days per week
