Position Overview

The Novelis Casting & Finishing plants located in Davenport, IA have an immediate opening for a Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability & Automation Manager (EMRA).
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities Include:

•The EMRA Manager has primary controlling impact over the functional area and is responsible for the performance of the group relative to productivity in the plant, quality of the products produced, machine downtime, labor relations and safety issues.

•The EMRA Manager makes decisions based on broadly defined practices, procedures, functional precedents and well-defined policies. These decisions have wide ranging effects on the efficient operation of the facilities as well as both large and small capital projects.

•Develops, trains, motivates subordinate staff to ensure a highly skilled, trained, and experienced organization capable of meeting all engineering and maintenance management needs. In addition, prepare them for advancement to positions of great responsibility.

•Ensures the specifications for all new equipment, tools, and install procedures meet Federal, State, and OSHA codes to protect the health and safety of our employees.

•Through the maintenance and engineering teams, develop and maintain a suitable spare parts program to ensure control of appropriate and adequate inventories and costs.

•Helps to establish and implement maintenance and capital budgets and projects along with performance objectives and programs to contribute to maximization of return on investment of the sites. Monitors maintenance costs for Davenport making recommendations as required to stay within yearly budget limits. Manages expenditures in areas of responsibility.

•Provides leadership and support for engineering and maintenance in equipment and site outages. Assists team in meeting time frames and budget goals for outages.

•Manages relationships that have been developed for engineering and maintenance support.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Engineering is required.
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in a plant engineering and maintenance environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven track record of leading highly successful teams.
  • Previous industrial engineering experience, including planning, specification, and implementation of engineering design projects.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to motivate, train, understand, and develop others so that they may attain objectives.
  • Desire to take the initiative and develop proactive relationships with departmental employees through understanding their needs and fostering collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Strong technical and process management skills are required in this position.
  • Must possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel for training and meetings as necessary.
  • Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency with the ability to learn new programs quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of aluminum processes.
Location Profile

The finishing mill in Davenport opened in 1906 and employees more than 100 people. The facility cold rolls aluminum to a desired gauge anneals to temper levels coats and slits the rolled sheet to size. The facility produces mill finish coil and painted coil to serve the building and construction industry. Davenport Finishing has an active social responsibility committee that supports many organizations in the local community including Habitat for Humanity Riverbend Food Bank CASI and more. The facility also sponsors local events including their partnership with Junior Achievement in sponsoring and presenting at the Advanced Manufacturing Career Day.
