Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for Building Construction Products (BCP) Hydraulic Systems at Clayton Machine Development Center (CMDC) in Clayton, NC. This role will lead the development of hydraulic systems and components in specific machine applications globally including US, UK, China, Japan & India. This role will create and deploy hydraulic systems through product development and maintenance while coaching, mentoring, and managing an international team. This role is intended to convert leading edge new technology into machine solutions that delight our customers in reliability, durability, and cost. As the leader and manager in this role you will be the advocate for team member advancement & development opportunities. You will be the representative voice of the team with deep collaboration with machine groups, purchasing support, and a stakeholder to component development. What You Will Do:

  • Manage a team over multiple continents, including the UK & US.
  • Manage hydraulic system development for 10 ton & less Hydraulic Excavators, development for Global Backhoe Loaders and Compact Wheel loaders.
  • Create, plan and execute MGPP directives of system development and team growth in tactical and strategic form.
  • Understands & can communicate a detailed technical description of machine hydraulic operating system of supported BCP products.
  • Utilize and endorse technical tools in support of system development.
  • Manage product problem related issues to resolution relative to production line support and customer improvements.
  • Manage and execute new product development across multiple products and multiple programs.
  • Foster a positive team culture with individual focus on personal needs of each employee for continued professional growth.
  • Advocate for hydraulic system development as a key enabler to delight customer operators.
  • Provide strategic guidance as a stakeholder in the development of new components from external partners to support future program needs.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
  • Degree requirement: bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Proven ability to both plan a new strategy, execute, and implement strategy for innovative solutions across a variety of components & products withing the division .
  • Managing People: Clear evidence of the support of positive team growth through past teaching and learning opportunities through project management, mentoring or supervisory.
  • Execution and Delivery of New Technology and Product : Capability to manage New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) execution of multiple programs on multiple products. Desired experience in prototyping new technology to suitable levels of readiness to be deployable in NPI programs.
  • Global Communication: Demonstrated experience in the global environment solving technical problems to expedite development and production level issues. Proven ability to influence other team members such that progress to resolution can be achieved.
  • Customer/Market/Supply Base Focus: Stay current with changing market needs, showcasing a keen understanding of industry trends and dynamics. This skill ensures the development of solutions that not only meet current requirements but also anticipate future demands.
Top Candidates will have:
  • Experience with managing, fostering, and maintaining positive supplier relationships.
  • Deep technical experience of hydraulic systems on targeted machine including cylinders, implements, rotary drives, valves, filtration, solenoids, steering, braking and control concepts.
