Essential Job Functions:

Hands-on assembly of prototypes and ramp-up volumes, optical alignment, test development, for compact spectrometers with electronics assemblies.

Cleaning and assembling high precision optical and mechanical components, such as spectrometers, diffraction gratings, and miniaturized motors

Working with ESD-sensitive Opto-sensors (CMOS/CCD/PDA) and electronic boards following work instructions. Writing new work instructions for manufacturing technicians.

Optimizations and testing with automated software and test equipment, understanding and improving these processes and accuracy of bills of materials.

Data analysis and technical reporting for internal teams and customers

Contribute ideas for concepts of new alignment and test fixtures.

Various: Troubleshooting prototypes, Researching instruments and components from vendors, Processing purchase requisitions and other stock transactions, Counting Inventory, setting-up new production areas, maintaining lab supplies.

Skills/Experience Required:

Associate or BS degree in Electronics, Physics or Mechanical engineering, other optical science or optical engineering degree

10-15 years' industry experience in assembling and building scientific-grade instruments (especially optical systems, scientific cameras, and spectrometers a plus)

Broad experience in optics (gratings, fiber optics, light sources, detectors)

Microsoft software proficiency (Excel & PowerPoint required, etc.), and being able to use custom software to record traceability and performance

Able to work in a team environment as an efficient and collaborative member

Passionate to contribute to scientific instrumentation development and eager to learn
