Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

  • Auditing of environmental compliance.
  • Completion of Air Emissions Reports, Stormwater Discharge Monitoring Reports, and SARA Reports.
  • Preparation of applications for environmental related permits.
  • Tracking of regulatory issues with potential impacts to our business units.
  • Train employees on environmental best management practices, recordkeeping, and sample collection techniques.
  • Assist with project management oversight of contractors working on remediation projects.
  • Assist with property environmental due diligence.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies as required for compliance.
  • Manage environmental risk with respect to operational practices (on-site) and recycling facilities for environmental sensitive materials (off-site).
  • Participate in government relations efforts on issues facing the metals recycling industry
  • Develop greater environmental awareness in all employees.
  • Promote the benefits to the community provided by recycling and recycling facilities.


  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be willing and able to travelovernight in the U.S.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related physical science.
  • Minimum 3years' experience in compliance related environmental work. (RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, CWA and SARA)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to manage many projects with shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must. Experience with SharePoint systems and drawing software a plus.
  • Creative and independent thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teammates at all levels.
  • Travel Required within US: 30 - 50%


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Self-starter, exhibiting independent thinking skills with strong initiative.
  • Coordination with all levels within the company's hierarchy.
