Perform internal of ERS and HVM field service associates on operation and safe NETA based testing of electrical power system equipment. Responsible for developing, preparing, conducting, and evaluating technical training programs. Write literature and instructional materials to be used in programs and design exercises to enhance lectures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct field service on operation and safe testing of electrical power systems in accordance with InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) established procedures and practices.
  • Prepare/Manage classrooms and lab areas.
  • Conduct presentations and webinars.
  • Model and enforce Vertiv safety guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain above goal student satisfaction ratings.
  • Schedule and facilitate training assessments.
  • Maintain and enforce classroom conduct in accordance with published policies.
  • Maintain classrooms and training equipment in good working condition.
  • Maintain safety and test equipment in proper working order and update tracking lists.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and lab equipment in proper working order.
  • Maintain the classrooms and lab areas.
  • Develop technical training course material.
  • Assess training needs and certification requirements.
  • Collaborate to develop and write training documentation manuals.
  • Assist in design of computer-based and multimedia curriculum.
  • Participate in on-site support in conjunction with Field Operations.
  • Maintain course materials.
  • Review training materials for compliance with training requirements and ensure training material relevance per schedule.
  • Incorporate safety bulletins into training materials in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure training materials are current and the latest information is being taught.
  • Practice continuous improvement in all aspects of education process.
  • Review and incorporate student feedback.
  • Use new training methods and lessons learned.
  • Attend professional development training and conferences.
  • Complete all administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Turn in expense reports, trip reports, and timecards accurately and on time.
  • Complete student grade cards accurately and on time.
  • Order training supplies and materials to enhance instruction programs.
  • Assist and support regional training centers.
  • Provide training offerings at regional training centers as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate resources for regional training for course offerings.
  • Other tasks as required to support the Learning and Development Technical Training program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Graduate Engineer BSEE and four years of related power system experience or graduate of applicable electrical technical school or military equivalent and eight years minimum related work experience.
  • NETA, NFPA, IEEE, IAEI and/or other professional organization involvement preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA, NETA, and NFPA, especially NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910, and IEEE 1584 as they relate to electrical safe work practices.
  • NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Professional (CESP) is preferred or capable of achieving within 12 months.
  • Strong background and experience in all types of low and medium voltage switchgear and power system equipment testing.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical apparatus testing with a strong theoretical understanding of three-phase industrial, commercial, and utility electrical power systems and equipment and a good aptitude for problem evaluation.
  • Regularly lift and/or move large test equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Possess a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Proficient PC skills including all Microsoft Office products and web-based technologies.
  • Valid driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Reactive, fast paced environment.
  • Professional office and classroom/lab environment.
  • Minimum 25% travel required. May require additional travel if not located at Vertiv Academy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing duties described above, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The associate frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds.
