About the Team

Market Insights designs and implements consumer and stakeholder surveys intended to improve the administration and content of College Board's flagship AP, SAT, and BigFuture programs and myriad other K-12 and Higher Education products and services, as well as consumer research that is used to gauge the interest in and inform the creation of new products. Market Insights also monitors how College Board and its multiple brands are perceived in our overall industry.

About the Opportunity

In the role of Executive Director, Market Insights, you will set the strategy and vision for market and brand research at College Board, and lead the Market Insights team toward executing on that vision. You will deliver quantitative and qualitative market research and analytics to senior leadership and product teams in order to inform business decisions, organizational strategy, and ongoing improvement of programs and services. In this role, you will own, direct, and execute College Board's market intelligence processes to support the achievement of business and mission goals, helping fuel innovation and growth. Finally, you will inspire organizational leaders to take action using the evidence you and your team generate.

In this role, you will:

Strategy & Vision (20%)

  • Craft a compelling vision and strategy for market research at the College Board, in collaboration with organizational leadership
  • Ensure innovation and iterative improvement in Market Research efforts, and alignment between strategy and execution of the work

Market Research Leadership (50%)

  • Collaborate with leaders across the College Board to understand their market research needs, and employ research methods that balance being best-in-class with being fit-for-purpose in order to deliver high-quality insights with methodological rigor, speed, agility, and efficiency
  • Lead cross-enterprise work to ensure that customer and market research efforts are coordinated and provide a unified and consolidated view of College Board's customers and markets
  • Be proactive in identifying market research opportunities across the organization, and work with the appropriate stakeholders to identify research plans
  • Own the optimization of market research vendor sourcing to achieve more effective market research investments
  • Serve as a leader within the Learning and Assessment Division, representing the needs and perspective of the Market Insights Team on the Division's Leadership Team
  • Provide thought-leadership and survey leadership expertise for internal Talent-led initiatives, including employee engagement and annual manager 360 surveys

Team Management (30%)

  • Manage team members to consistently deliver high-quality work products that lead to organizational impact
  • Grow team member skillsets and abilities
  • Ensure team members feel engaged and inspired by the work they are doing

About You

You have:

  • Master's degree required; Specialization or advanced training in market research quantitative skills and processes strongly preferred
  • 10-15 years of experience in executing andleading qualitative and quantitative market research analytics
  • Experience building and leading diverse, inclusive, high-performing teams while balancing multiple workstreams and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Deep desire and natural ability to learn about the customer voice and experience
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, and motivating the team to explore innovative approaches to answer complex market research questionsusing survey research methods and tools, data science, and quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed-methods research
  • Experience working in Agile coupled with adept problem-solving skills, including navigating through ambiguity and using data to inform decisions and actions
  • Passionfor driving impact at scale and a proven ability to build relationships and influence others to action
  • Experience managing relationships with third-party resources and vendors
  • Education industry experience essential; experience in multiple industries, both in consumer- and B2B markets, a huge plus
  • Ability to travel 3-5 times a year to our NYC office
