Do you enjoy working outdoors? The Department of Administrative Services - Building Division is looking for a motivated new Groundskeeper to join their team! Under general supervision you will, lead an assigned grounds maintenance staff on a continuous basis, and perform grounds maintenance regularly. Location: State Capitol, 1445 K St Lincoln Ne

Schedule: 7am. to 4pm. Monday- Friday. On call some weekends
Examples of Work
As a Groundskeeper you can expect to mow, water, fertilize, and weed lawns, grounds and surrounding areas; as well as rake and remove leaves, grass, and other debris from lawns, grounds, and surrounding areas. In this position you will schedule and/or perform preventative maintenance for equipment and machinery to ensure that necessary inspection, adjustment, and replacement of parts are made prior to malfunctions or safety hazards occurring. You will also trains co-workers, as directed, in specific work practices and procedures of grounds maintenance. Preform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: 0-6 months' experience in grounds keeping, building maintenance or a mechanical trade (carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical). Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency

PREFERRED: Experience in lawn mowing, turf maintenance, hedge trimming, snow shoveling, gardening, farming, horticulture, landscaping, or grounds keeping.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: grounds keeping and horticultural practices; safe use of fertilizers, soil preparation, plant diseases and destructive insects; the occupational hazards and safety precautions of grounds maintenance and building and mechanical trades; the standard practices, tools, equipment, and materials associated with grounds maintenance and building and mechanical trades.

Ability to: determine the appropriate grounds maintenance procedures; do physical labor and work outdoors for long periods of time; understand and follow instructions
