General Description of Position:

The Human Resources Advisor is responsible for staffing management including compliance, employee relations, labor relations, organizational development, benefits, compensation, and employee communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the following activities related to staffing management:
    • On-boards and off-boards colleagues and completes and/or ensures completion of all activities
    • Assists managers with a staffing need related to internships and contract/temporary labor
    • Assists managers with tasks related to executing their performance management plans, including reviews, development plans, and succession planning
    • Assists managers with coaching and discipline, including documentation and termination meetings as necessary
    • Enforces and assists managers with interpreting company policies
  • Responsible for the following activities related to compliance:
    • Follows established record keeping and retention policies and procedures
    • Conducts audits of personnel files annually
    • Participates in other audits as assigned
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local immigration laws
    • Conducts annual motor vehicle record checks; assists managers with base pass process
  • Executes assigned initiatives and activities related to a company established employee relations program to ensure adoption and maintenance of company culture
  • Assists with labor relations activities and keeps abreast of legislation and activities
  • Facilitates communication among employees and management. Guides managers and employees on problem-solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and litigation avoidance.
  • Responsible for the following activities related to benefits and compensation programs:
    • Educates colleagues on benefits available to them and fields questions
    • Ensures proper enrollment in colleague-selected benefits programs
    • Assists with managing the Hargray wellness programs; fields questions, and educates colleagues on the program
    • Manages FMLA and other leave requests; regularly stay up to date on those actively on leave and manage return to work; educates managers on proper processes
    • Manages workers compensation claims; regularly stay up to date on those with active claims, those on leave, and those returning to work; educates managers on proper processes
    • Works with managers on company compensation program including creating and grading job descriptions, crafting offers of employment, and managing annual bonus and increases
    • Works with managers to execute commission plans and assists with the development of proper documents related to commission plans
  • Participates in new employee orientation, trains employees on HR issues and practices
  • Identifies/incorporates best practices and lessons learned into program plans
  • Assists in the creation and analysis of reports, decisions, and results of company and department in relation to established goals and metrics
  • Maintains employee and department information on the Heartbeat
  • Effectively manages administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and reporting
  • Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with and in promotion of the company’s mission, core values, and core competencies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the effective operation of the department

 



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a related field
  • 5-7 years experience in Human Resources Generalist role  
  • Broad knowledge and experience in staffing management, compliance, employment law, employee relations, benefits, and compensation
  • Must be able to work with confidential information and maintain the utmost discretion
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Self-starter who requires little direction; able to anticipate the needs of others
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, previous experience working with Workday products preferred
  • SHRM certification preferred
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement
