JOB SUMMARY: Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and
systems supporting the hospital, medical buildings, and other
campus buildings. Responds to routine service requests.
Functions as primary engineering staff coverage evenings, nights
or weekends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
o Monitors, inspects, maintains, trouble shoots, resets and repairs
equipment, machinery and /or systems supporting the hospital, medical
buildings and other campus buildings. These systems include but are not
limited to machine rooms, HVAC Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Nitrogen,
Nitrous Oxide, Oxygen, medical vacuum systems, locks and hardware, Nurse
Call System.
o Performs plumbing work to include but not limited to: unplugging of clogged
drains, replacement of faucet washers, toilet repair.
o Performs electrical work to include but not limited to: changes fuses,
resets circuit breakers, replaces lightbulbs.
o Repairs various types of hospital equipment and furniture.
o Replaces ceiling and floor tiles and makes minor carpet repairs as
necessary.
o Documents all work requests and work performed on shift logs.
o Performs assigned shift readings and processes appropriate documentation.
o Responds to emergency codes and building system alarms.
o Responds to service request as dispatched via Engineering Office or direct
page.
o Resets fire alarm system, HVAC Equipment and Generator Equipment
subsequent to failures.
o Provides assistance to all trades as required.
HVAC
- Services refrigeration system, pneumatic controls, electrical circuitry
and mechanical equipment pertaining to chillers, towers, pumps, air
handlers, steam and condensate systems as well as water treatment and
energy conservation mechanisms.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
o High School or trade school graduate
o Graduate of accredited apprenticeship program or relevant OJT
program.
o 1-3 years experience in hospital maintenance.
o The ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and
written manner.
o Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, problem solve,
get along with others and confront issues appropriately.
o HVAC duties require Mass. refrigeration license.
o Electrical duties require Mass. masters license.
o Plumbing duties require Journeyman's Plumbers License.
o Carpentry duties require completion of apprenticeship
o Lock work duties require completion of a certified locksmithing
program.
