Advertised Job Summary:The Incoming Student Coordinator is a significant position within the International Student and Scholar Support department as one of USC's initial contacts for prospective and newly admitted international students. This position assists with students' visa processing for entry to the U.S. and enrollment at the University and enters information into Federal databases to meet specific reporting requirements. Therefore, this role necessitates efficiency and extensive organizational and communication skills as well as U.S. legal permanent residency or U.S. citizenship to operate in Federal immigration databases.
Minimum Qualifications:Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience. This position requires access to U.S. Department of Homeland Security databases, which necessitates this employee to either be a U.S. legal permanent resident or U.S. citizen. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and database management software.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Banner, Ellucian software, and SEVIS databases. Strong communication skills (listening, speaking, writing) and problem-solving abilities to work with diverse faculty/staff clientele and diverse international student population of a predominantly non-native English-speaking population. Fluency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, with a strong working knowledge of Excel.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Strong word processing skills; the ability to coordinate and prioritize competing tasks; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with the general public and to work as a team member. The ability to deal effectively with the public in handling inquiries and the ability to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse clientele is critical.
Job Duty:Initiates contact with newly admitted international students. Outlines the immigration process particular to their status and academic program. Issues and directs accurate and relevant communication with admitted students. Provides comprehensive support for student requests. Manages the timely flow of required immigration documentation necessary to ensure a complete record for visa processing.

Job Duty:Communicates and collaborates with campus academic departments and offices (such as English Programs for Internationals, the International Accelerator Program, Undergraduate Admissions, and the Graduate School) as well as with government agencies, including U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Department of State, to provide support for the incoming international student population.

Enters data into the SEVIS database for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program and issues immigration documents for incoming and continuing students and affiliates in F-1 and/or J-1 visa status; assists with verifying lawful presence of non-citizen students using the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's SAVE database in compliance with South Carolina law. Maintains accurate student information within the ISSS database.
